China Communications Import & Export Corporation was founded in 1981 with the name of China Communications Import & Export Service Corporation, renamed to China Communications Import & Export Company in 1988 and further renamed to the current name in 1993.
The predecessor of the corporation was the Import & Export Office under the Ministry of Communications, and was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Communications after becoming an independent enterprise. As an important foreign trade entity
in China’s communications industry, the corporation joined China Merchants Group as a whole in 1998, and became an entirely state-owned enterprise of the group specializing in the import & export trade.
The corporation mainly serves the transport industry, and principally operates the export of newly built vessels and other products; second-hand vessel trading; agency and proprietary import; and international and domestic bidding and tendering.
The corporation stresses the sense of responsibility, adheres to the prudential
operation, upholds the quality policy of “continuously enhancing customer
satisfaction with superior service and maximizing corporate values with scientific
management”, and has won the broad compliments from customers in the
transport industry and other industries.
The corporation was certified according to the ISO9001 quality management
system in 2000, rated above level A at the industry & commerce authority, the
tax authority, the customs and other state authorities, and granted the title of
the “Outstanding Enterprise Directly under the Central Government” by the
Ministry of Personnel and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration
Commission in 2004.
